Course Overview

Site Skills Training in collaboration with our training partner, Insituto Technico Del Petroleo (ITP) provides an accredited and globally recognised Stuck Pipe Prevention Course aimed at staff working on onshore and offshore rigs. The courses are accredited by the International Association of Drilling Contractors through our training partners.

There are no prerequisites for this course

Payment Options

Full payment for courses up to $1,500 must be made before the commencement of the course. For courses that cost over $1,500, Site Skills Training will hold an initial deposit of $1,500, with the balance to be paid upon commencement of the course.

Course Delivery

The Well Intervention Pressure Control courses are conducted at the Site Skills Training facilities, 488 Queen Street, Brisbane 4000 and 72-80 Belgravia St, Belmont, Perth 6104. Upon arrangement, training and courses can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.

Completion Award

Course Outline

Upon completion of the course, course participants will understand:

  • Identify mechanisms and risk factors that lead to stuck pipe incidents
  • Anticipate, prevent, recognise, and resolve stuck pipe due to wellbore instability, hole cleaning, differential sticking, and wellbore geometry
  • Assess mechanics of wellbore stresses and the impact on wellbore stability
  • Analyse trends to identify early warning signs of developing wellbore problems
  • Use hole cleaning factors in both vertical and deviated wellbores
  • Apply mechanics of jars and how to use them effectively
  • Implement effective drilling and tripping practices
  • Make cost-effective choices in planning fishing operations
