Course Overview

This qualification provides competencies to supervise selection, installation, commissioning, maintenance and testing of explosion-protected equipment and systems for control and monitoring of plant and processes. The qualification provides competencies in working with explosion protection techniques with electives in how they apply to coal mining, gas and dust atmospheres. It includes ERAC requirements for an ‘Electrician’s licence’ and competencies to select, install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain stand alone renewable energy equipment and systems.

Suitable For

This course is suitable for post trade electricians who would like to upskill and move into supervisory or auditing positions within Hazardous Areas.

After successfully completing this qualification, individuals will be competent to work as an Electronic Equipment Tradesperson (Special Class, Hazardous Areas).

Units of Competency

This qualification has 23 core and 9 elective units of competency. In order to attain this qualification, certain units are credit transferred from a student’s electrical trade qualification. The remaining units are obtained through a 5 day EEHA course as well as 4 extra units of competency through RPL/Distance Learning.

Qualification Outcomes

Upon successful completion participants will receive the nationally recognised qualification UEE42611 Certificate IV in Hazardous Areas – Electrical.

Prerequisite Information

Participants must have completed their electrical trade qualification and bring their certificate to the course.

Participants must also complete the below skill sets prior to commencing this qualification. Individuals are able to complete these skill sets through Site Skills Training's 5 day Hazardous Areas course.

  • UEESS00114 - Hazardous Areas - Electrical equipment in gas atmospheres
  • UEESS00115 - Hazardous Areas - Electrical equipment in hazardous areas - pressurisation

Full payment for courses up to $1,500 must be made before the commencement of the course. For courses that cost over $1,500, Site Skills Training will hold an initial deposit of $1,500, with full payment being made after the course has been delivered.

Course Delivery

Training and assessment is conducted at the Site Skills Training Logan facility located at 1 Nestor Dr, Meadowbrook QLD 4132.

Upon arrangement, training can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.

RPL

RPL may be available for candidates with previous industry experience.
