Course Overview

The TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification; reflects the knowledge and skills required by individuals engaged in the delivery of training and assessment services, within the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. It is also suitable for individuals who deliver and assess competence in a workplace setting as part of a structured VET programme.

An example of some of the job roles that are relevant to this qualification include:

  • Enterprise Trainer and/or Assessor
  • Registered Training Organisation (RTO) Trainer and/or Assessor
  • Training Adviser or Training Needs Analyst
  • Vocational Education Teacher

Becoming a qualified trainer and assessor can be an exciting and rewarding career direction. If you are considering a career as a Trainer and Assessor within the Australian VET sector you will need to obtain a TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Additionally you will also need to hold relevant Australian vocational qualifications and experience in the area or areas that you wish to train and assess.

# TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is only available until 5 October 2017. Any participants that have not completed the qualification by this date are unable to continue with this qualification and will need to transition to its replacement, TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. It may be possible to transfer some units of competency already completed across to the new qualification, depending on the units selected. Suitable For

TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment is best suited to those who wish to work in a training or assessor position within RTO / VET facilities or as an enterprise trainer or assessor and training advisers.

For example:

  • Any person aiming to become a trainer and assessor in their Industry and delivering training in fields for which they hold qualifications and have sufficient workplace experience.
  • Any High School Teacher currently delivering or intending to deliver units of competency in their school.
  • Any person currently involved in the delivery of national units of competency who doesn’t hold the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training ad Assessment.
  • Holders of BSZ40198 & TAA40104 who require an upgrade to the TAE40110 qualification.
  • Any person who will be designing or marketing training resources or documents.

Full payment for courses up to $1,500 must be made before the commencement of the course unless the Payment Plan option is selected. For courses that cost over $1,500, Site Skills Training will hold an initial deposit of $1,500, with the balance to be paid upon commencement of the course.

Prerequisite Information

Whilst there are no specific prerequisites to this course we do recommend the following, which will assist you in progressing through the training;

  • Sufficient work experience in the industry you will be training in. Having current and relevant industry skills and knowledge is a vital aspect of being a Trainer and Assessor.
  • Ideally you will be able to deliver your projects in your workplace and if you do not currently have a workplace you will need to discuss suitable options with your trainer.
  • A laptop for use during the training is definitely an advantage however not necessary as long as you have access to a computer at home or at work to complete your project tasks.
  • Internet access is a must to complete project tasks and it will be available during face to face training.
  • Sound computer skills and knowledge on Microsoft Word/Excel or similar programs. This knowledge will be required to complete your project tasks.

Qualification Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment participants will receive the Nationally Recognised Qualification ‘TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment’.

Upon successful attainment of this qualification, the participant will be able to train and assess any units that they hold the qualification for, and can demonstrate industry experience in. This is subject to licencing regulations of qualifications sought to be taught.

Course Delivery

INTENSIVE COURSE

Duration: 5 Days face to face plus 12 months for additional self-paced learning and post course assignments.

Course Cost: $1450

Units of Competency Covered: 10 units as outlined above in the Units of Competency Covered section.

Structure: This course is aimed at participants who have previously acquired a substantial amount of training experience. Participants in this particular delivery mode will need to be self-motivated and have excellent time management skills.

The 5-day face-to-face component of this course is intensive and primarily theory-based. There will be homework assignments during this period as well. The balance of this particular course will see participants completing self-paced learning and post course assignments.

Participants will have 12 months to complete and lodge all post-course assignments for assessment. An application to extend the timeframe may incur an additional fee.

As a guide, participants should be prepared to allocate at least 4 hours per week as a minimum to study further and complete post-course assessment tasks, if they aim to complete the qualification workload within the 12 month timeframe. If participants allocate more time per week to study further and complete the assessment tasks, then it is likely they will complete the workload sooner.

Ongoing online support is made available to participants after the completion of their face-to-face training. Participants may also contact their trainer to arrange face-to-face meetings or phone conferences if necessary.


CLUSTER COURSE

Structure: Our Face-to-Face Cluster courses are aimed at participants who may not have a substantial amount of training experience or who are looking to focus on a specific field within the TAE40110 qualification ie; Design, Delivery and Assessment. Each cluster covers units of competency specific to the cluster field. Participants, will need to be self-motivated and have sound time management skills. This method of delivery not only offers the participant more face-to-face and a more in depth coverage of the qualification, but allows the participant to break up the training/study periods.

Participants will have 6 months to complete and lodge all post-course assignments for assessment. An application to extend the timeframe may incur an additional fee.

As a guide, participants should be prepared to allocate at least 5 hours per week as a minimum to study further and complete post-course assessment tasks, if they aim to complete each cluster workload within the 6 month timeframe. If participants allocate more time per week to study further and complete the assessment tasks, then it is likely they will complete the workload sooner.

Ongoing online support is made available to participants after the completion of their face-to-face training. Participants may also contact their trainer to arrange face-to-face meetings or phone conferences if necessary.

Design Cluster 1

Duration: 3 days face to face plus 6 months to complete post course assignments.

Units of Competency Covered: TAEDES401A, TAEDES402A and TAELLN411.

Delivery Cluster 2

Duration: 4 days face to face plus 6 months to complete post course assignments.

Units of Competency Covered: TAEDEL401A, TAEDEL402A and BSBCMM401.

Assessment Cluster 3

Duration: 3 days face to face plus 6 months to complete post course assignments.

Units of Competency Covered: TAEASS401B, TAEASS402B, TAEASS403B and TAEASS502.


DISTANCE COURSE

Duration: 12 months to complete

Units of Competency Covered: 10 units as outlined above in the Units of Competency Covered section.

Structure: This course is aimed at participants who may be based in remote/rural areas or may not be able to attend face to face training. Participants undertaking this method of delivery will require high motivation skills, time management skills and the ability to self-learn as there is no face to face training. The benefit is however, that you can complete the qualification without having to attend any classes and at your own pace.

Participants will have 12 months to complete and lodge all post-course assignments for assessment. An application to extend the timeframe may incur an additional fee.

As a guide, participants should be prepared to allocate at least 8 hours per week as a minimum to study further and complete post-course assessment tasks, if they aim to complete the workload within the 12 month timeframe. If participants allocate more time per week to study further and complete the assessment tasks then it is likely they will complete the workload sooner.

Ongoing online support is made available to participants after the completion of their face-to-face training. Participants may also contact their trainer to arrange face-to-face meetings or phone conferences if necessary.


RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL) ASSESSMENT

Recognition of prior learning is an assessment process that involves assessment of an individual’s relevant prior learning (including formal, informal and non-formal learning) to determine the credit outcomes of an individual application for credit.

Credit is the value assigned for the recognition of equivalence in content and learning outcomes between different types of learning and/or qualifications. Credit reduces the amount of learning required to achieve a qualification and may be through credit transfer, articulation, recognition of prior learning or advanced standing.

Duration: 6 months to complete and lodge all required evidence.

Course Cost: The cost includes 2 submissions of evidence. Should the participant be required to submit RPL assessment and evidence more than twice, a submission fee of $250 per submission will apply. If you are not eligible for RPL in any units of competency within the TAE40110 qualification, they may be completed for a charge of $165.50 per unit.

Units of Competency: 10 units as outlined above in the Units of Competency Covered section or equivalents for RPL.

Structure: In order to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning you must be able to demonstrate and provide evidence of your prior learning that meets all assessment and performance criteria set out in the qualification. Unique Student Identifier Number (USI)

As with all accredited training, issue of a successfully completed qualification in TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment requires the participant to have a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) . You can still complete the training without a USI, however Site Skills Training is unable to provide you with your completion certificate until you have provided us with your USI.

There is no direct link between TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment and licensing, legislative and/or regulatory requirements. However, where required, a unit of competency will specify relevant licensing, legislative and/or regulatory requirements that impact on the unit.
