The purpose of this course is to provide the trainee with basic routine day-to-day compressor station operations skills. The trainee is also required to carry out practical activities where they are required to identify station components and systems and carry out routine work.
These skills include:
- Prepare facilities in the station for operation
- Operate and monitor facilities in the station
- Shut down facilities in the station.
Full payment for courses up to $1,500 must be made before the commencement of the course unless the Payment Plan option is selected. For courses that cost over $1,500, Site Skills Training will hold an initial deposit of $1,500. The balance of fees payable will be charged at a point in the course that is proportionate to the amount of the deposit paid, e.g. a 10-day course costing $3,000, the remaining $1,500 will be charged at the end of day 5 (upon completion of 50% of the course).

All engineering and technical oil and gas facilities personnel looking to gain an overview of the operation of a compressor station.
This is a highly customised course designed and tailored for a clients specific needs. Delivery is generally at a clients premises such as a compressor station or where one is close by. There will be some classroom based knowledge delivery as well as facility based skills training and assessment.
Introduction to the Oil and Gas Industry is essential and general knowledge of process plant equipment is desirable.
Must be trained in permit to work
At the end of this course you will be able to:
- Describe the basic operation of a Compressor Station
- Use an Operations Manual and other documentation (such as P&IDs) to locate information
- Identify the major equipment and components for a facility
- Perform routine checks
- Perform operational tasks
Units of Competency
There are no units of competence/statements of attainments issued for this course however, some of the knowledge and skills gained will help with units offered in the PMA or UEG training packages.
Opportunities exist in the oil and gas industry in upstream exploration and production at process plants (LNG and petroleum), midstream transporters via pipelines and to the downstream 'distribution' network of pipelines and process plants producing LNG and LPG.
This is a general overview course which can lead into other related courses in the oil and gas sector.
