This course aims to give participants the appropriate skills and knowledge to operate a mobile boom type elevated work platform (EWP) with a boom length over 11m.
The training and assessment includes practical hands-on skills including:
- planning and risk management;
- applicable legislations and standards;
- EWP types,
- characteristics and uses;
- maintenance and testing of the EWP;
- appropriate PPE;
- correct set up;
- safe and efficient operation techniques;
- shut-down and stowage procedures and associated paperwork.
By completing this training and assessment you will be awarded the High Risk Licence class WP.

Log Book Requirements
In the absence of any evidence of relevant experience, toward informal training a Log book or other training record showing evidence you have undertaken supervised practical training under the direct supervision of a person holding the relevant licence are required in for high risk licence courses.
Log book hours or other training records are completed by the trainee and a qualified site supervisor to ensure skill gaps nominated by the Site Skills Trainer are closed out and verified before the applicant can be proposed for the Mandated Assessments.

Full payment for courses up to $1,500 must be made before the commencement of the course unless the Payment Plan option is selected. For courses that cost over $1,500, Site Skills Training will hold an initial deposit of $1,500. The balance of fees payable will be charged at a point in the course that is proportionate to the amount of the deposit paid, e.g. a 10-day course costing $3,000, the remaining $1,500 will be charged at the end of day 5 (upon completion of 50% of the course).

Elevating Work Platform (EWP) Training requires a Unique Student Identifier (USI) , you can still complete the training without a USI, though Site Skills Training is unable to provide you with your completion certificate until you provided us with your USI. EWP Training is suitable for people working in and around elevated work platforms (EWP) for example: Riggers, Electricians; Welders; Fitters; T/A’s and any other role that requires work at height.
Elevated Work Platform (EWP) training and assessment is conducted at the Site Skills Training Brisbane facility located at 1 Nestor Drive, Meadowbrook, Logan 4131.
Upon arrangement, Working at Heights training can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.
Night classes are available for this course at Site Skills Training, Logan. Contact the facility for further information.
There are no prerequisites to this operator's licence, however. Participants will not be able to apply for the HRW Licence until they are 18 years old. It is recommended that a person attains their working at heights qualification prior to undertaking this course.
Applicants are only eligible to apply for a Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) Licence, once they are 18 years of age, have completed the final assessment.
