First Attack Fire Fighting gives candidates the necessary skills and knowledge to safely and confidently use portable fire extinguishers; fire hose reels and fire blankets to extinguish a small fire. The course applies to any workplace and covers the following:
- Operational safety and risk management
- Emergency response including; rescue, active alarm, confine fire, evacuate and extinguish (race)
- Fire types and classifications
- Fire theory
- Fire extinguisher types and their use
- WHS and workplace policies and procedures (relevant)
- Hose reels and fire blankets
- Inspections and testing

This course is suitable for those who work as an operator or technician in a field based role within the resources sector. Individuals may have a role in an emergency management team such as a fire warden where they are required to use fire extinguishers and other small firefighting equipment.

Upon successful completion of the unit a Statement of Attainment will be issued.
Confined Space Training Brisbane training and assessment is conducted at the Site Skills Training Brisbane facility located at 1 Nestor Drive, Meadowbrook, Logan 4131.
Upon arrangement, Confined Space training can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.
There are no prerequisites for First Attack Fire Fighting although it is expected candidates are competent in operating the various types of plant and equipment to be loaded/unloaded.
Full payment for courses up to $1,500 must be made before the commencement of the course unless the Payment Plan option is selected. For courses that cost over $1,500, Site Skills Training will hold an initial deposit of $1,500. The balance of fees payable will be charged at a point in the course that is proportionate to the amount of the deposit paid, e.g. a 10-day course costing $3,000, the remaining $1,500 will be charged at the end of day 5 (upon completion of 50% of the course).
