Course Overview
This training package includes both PMBWELD301B Butt weld polyethylene plastic pipelines, PMBWELD302B Electrofusion weld polyethylene pipelines and FPICOT2238A Cut materials with a hand-held chainsaw. Courses may not run consecutively.
Poly Welding (Butt Welding) Training
Poly Welding (Butt Welding) provides participants with the necessary skills and knowledge required to carry out polyethylene welding, also known as poly welding, using butt welding equipment.
- Identifying materials being used in the installation as compatible for welding using butt welding methods
- Calculating appropriate welding parameters to be used
- Maintaining and calibrating welding equipment
- Performing welding
- Assessing quality of welded joints made
Poly Welding (Electrofusion Welding) Training
Poly Welding (Electrofusion Welding) provides participants with the necessary skills and knowledge required to carry out polyethylene welding, also known as poly welding, using electrofusion welding equipment.
- Identifying materials being used in the installation as compatible for welding using electrofusion welding methods
- Calculating appropriate welding parameters to be used
- Maintaining and calibrating welding equipment
- Performing welding
- Assessing quality of welded joints made
FPICOT2238A Cut Materials with a handheld chainsaw
This unit describes the outcomes required to prepare and cut materials with a hand-held chainsaw and includes basic operator maintenance checks.

Payment Options
Full payment for courses up to $1,500 must be made before the commencement of the course unless the Payment Plan option is selected. For courses that cost over $1,500, Site Skills Training will hold an initial deposit of $1,500. The balance of fees payable will be charged at a point in the course that is proportionate to the amount of the deposit paid, e.g. a 10-day course costing $3,000, the remaining $1,500 will be charged at the end of day 5 (upon completion of 50% of the course).

Suitable For
Poly Welding (Butt Welding) and Poly Welding (Electrofusion Welding) is intended for workers who are required to use a butt welder to form butt welds on polyethylene pipes and fittings. The course is appropriate for people involved or people who would like the opportunity to be involved in the installation and maintenance of pipelines transmitting gas and liquids as well as personnel working in the mining sector.
Course Delivery
Training and assessment is conducted at the Site Skills Training Brisbane facility located at 1 Nestor Drive, Meadowbrook, Logan 4131. Upon arrangement, training can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.
