Many training courses focus on the process, but the process can’t work without the power, air, heating, cooling, waste disposal, chemicals and water the utility systems provide. The focus of attention on the process can also lead to a degree of neglect in the operation and maintenance of utilities that ultimately affects the process anyway.
This course has been prepared to give a practical understanding of plant utilities, their importance to the process, the start up sequence of a plant and the emergency response required in the event of loss of power and air. The course also examines the opportunities for energy efficiency and the relationship with plant emissions. It is an intensive course which relies heavily on the use of practical examples and exercises to explore utility operation, control, and optimisation.
