Mobile Plant Training

Mobile Plant training encompasses the skills and knowledge to safely operate mobile plant and equipment including Elevating Work Platforms (EWP) and Side Booms.

Work at Heights and Elevating Work Platform (EWP) Training Package

This training package includes both RIIWHS204D Work Safely at Heights and TLILIC2005A Licence to operate a boom-type elevating work platform (boom length 11 metres or more). Work at Heights Training will be delivered as the first course as it is recommended to undertake Elevating Work Platform Training. Courses may not run consecutively.

Work Safely at Heights

This course is aimed at providing candidates with the necessary skills and knowledge to undertake work at heights safely and competently, covering selection, inspection and safe use of equipment; risk management; and requirements of relevant Australian Standards, company procedures and legislation. The course practically applies these and other safe work practices.

Licence to Operate a Boom-Type Elevating Work Platform (Boom Length 11 Metres or More)

This course aims to give participants the appropriate skills and knowledge to operate a mobile boom type elevated work platform (EWP) with a boom length over 11m.

The training and assessment includes practical hands-on skills including:

  • planning and risk management;
  • applicable legislations and standards;
  • EWP types,
  • characteristics and uses;
  • inspection,
  • maintenance and testing of the EWP;
  • appropriate PPE;
  • correct set up;
  • safe and efficient operation techniques;
  • spotting;
  • shut-down and stowage procedures and associated paperwork.

By completing this training and assessment you will be awarded the High Risk Licence class WP.

Elevating Work Platform (EWP) Under 11 Metres Training

This Nationally accredited course enables participants to operate an elevating work platform under 11 metres across the Construction, Resource, Defence and Agricultural industries. There is no high risk licencing requirement to operate an elevating work platform (under 11 metres).

Elevating Work Platform (EWP) 11 Metres or More Training

This course aims to give participants the appropriate skills and knowledge to operate a mobile boom type elevated work platform (EWP) with a boom length over 11m.

The training and assessment includes practical hands-on skills including:

  • applicable legislations and standards;
  • EWP types,
  • characteristics and uses;
  • inspection,
  • maintenance and testing of the EWP;
  • appropriate PPE;
  • correct set up;
  • safe and efficient operation techniques;
  • spotting;
  • shut-down and stowage procedures and associated paperwork.

By completing this training and assessment you will be awarded the High Risk Licence class WP.

Side Boom Operator Training

This course aims to give participants the necessary skills and knowledge to safely and efficiently operate a side boom pipe layer. Training includes practical knowledge of planning and risk management, machine inspection and routine maintenance, correct lifting and laying techniques, knowledge of machine controls and dynamics including load charts and limitations, shut down and post operational checks.

Note that some workplace procedures require side boom operators to hold a CN Non Slewing Crane High Risk Licence.
