This unit describes the outcomes required to carry out maintenance of hand-held chainsaws. It relates to the maintenance and servicing requirements of chainsaw powerheads and cutting attachments; chain sharpening, clean-up, storage procedures and recording requirements.
General legislative, regulatory and workplace requirements apply to this unit; however there are no specific licensing or certification requirements at the time of publication.
FWPCOT2239 Trim and cut felled trees
This unit describes the outcomes required to trim and cut felled trees with a chainsaw. It is intended for use in situations where the production of timber is not the primary focus of the activity. The unit also includes equipment maintenance.
General workplace legislative and regulatory requirements apply to this unit; specific licensing or certification requirements may apply in some states and territories.
Full payment for courses up to $1,500 must be made before the commencement of the course unless the Payment Plan option is selected. For courses that cost over $1,500, Site Skills Training will hold an initial deposit of $1,500. The balance of fees payable will be charged at a point in the course that is proportionate to the amount of the deposit paid, e.g. a 10-day course costing $3,000, the remaining $1,500 will be charged at the end of day 5 (upon completion of 50% of the course).

Chainsaw Fall Trees (Intermediate) requires a Unique Student Identifier (USI) , you can still complete the training without a USI, though Site Skills Training is unable to provide you with your completion certificate until you provided us with your USI. To apply for a free USI visit the USI website or contact our facility.
Chainsaw operations is designed for persons who use a chainsaw for simple tasks other than felling trees such as area maintenance.
Chainsaw operations training and assessment is conducted on-site at the Site Skills Training Darwin. Upon arrangement, training and courses can be conducted at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable industry training facilities.
Our Darwin facility is at 1 Campion Road, East Arm 0822 and training can be delivered on-site/client premises.
There are no prerequisites to this operator's licence, however. Participants will not be able to apply for the HRW Licence until they are 18 years old. It is recommended that a person attains their working at heights qualification prior to undertaking this course.
