Course Overview

This training package includes both CPCCLDG3001A Licence to perform dogging Training and TLILIC3006 Licence to operate a non-slewing mobile crane (greater than 3 tonnes capacity). Courses may not run consecutively.

Dogging Training

This course aims to give participants the necessary skills and knowledge to safely and efficiently undertake dogging work in a range of working environments.

On completion, candidates will be able to competently undertake

  • a range of slinging techniques;
  • select and inspect lifting gear and equipment;
  • direct crane operators in the safe movement and placement of loads including out of view of the crane operator.

The course also covers:

  • applicable legislations and standards;
  • risk management procedures relating to lifting operations;
  • crane types,
  • uses and characteristics;
  • crane set up and other elements of crane and dogging operations.

Non Slewing Crane (CN) Training

Non Slewing Crane (CN) specifies the outcomes required to operate a mobile crane of greater than 3 tonnes capacity that incorporates a boom or jib which includes articulated type mobile cranes and locomotive cranes, but does not include vehicle tow trucks, for licensing purposes.

Payment Options

Full payment for courses up to $1,500 must be made before the commencement of the course unless the Payment Plan option is selected. For courses that cost over $1,500, Site Skills Training will hold an initial deposit of $1,500, with the balance to be paid upon commencement of the course.

Dogging and Non Slewing Crane Training (CN) Training requires a Unique Student Identifier (USI) , you can still complete the training without a USI, though Site Skills Training is unable to provide you with your completion certificate until you provided us with your USI. Suitable For

Dogging Training is required by, and suitable for, those who would like the opportunity to work with cranes of all varieties, and those who may require to dog loads with load shifting equipment, within the Construction & Resource sectors

Non Slewing Crane (CN) Training is suited to those who want the opportunity to work with or operate non-slewing cranes in the resources or infrastructure industries.

Course Delivery

Training and assessment is conducted at the Site Skills Training facility 1 Campion Rd, East Arm, NT 0820. Upon arrangement, training and courses can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.

Prerequisite Information

Dogging Training

Although there are no set training prerequisites, NT WorkSafe will only issue a High Risk Work Licence to persons who meet the following criteria:

  • The person successfully completes an approved VET course (for the class of licence being sought) with a Registered Training Organisation
  • The person MUST be a resident of the Northern Territory, or
  • The person MUST provide a letter from their employer that they are a Fly In / Fly Out worker on a Mine Site in the Northern Territory

Failure to meet these criteria will result in the person NOT being issued with a High Risk Work Licence in the Northern Territory.

Non Slewing Crane (CN) Training

There are no prerequisites to this operator's licence, however if the operator is to drive the crane on the road she/he is required to hold a HR (Heavy Rigid) licence.

NT WorkSafe will only issue a High Risk Work Licence to persons who meet the following criteria;

  • The person successfully completes an approved VET course (for the class of licence being sought) with a Registered Training Organisation
  • The person MUST be a resident of the Northern Territory, or
  • The person MUST provide a letter from their employer that they are a Fly In / Fly Out worker on a Mine Site in the Northern Territory

Failure to meet these criteria will result in the person NOT being issued with a High Risk Work Licence in the Northern Territory.

Licensing Regulation

Applicants are only eligible to apply for a Work Safe NT Licence, once they are 18 years of age and have completed the final assessment. A High Risk Work (HRW) photographic licence is issued for a period of five (5) years starting on the date of issue of the first HRW licence class endorsed on the licence.

RPL

There is no recognition of prior learning for Dogging and Non Slewing Crane (CN) Training.

Further Opportunities

A dogging licence is a prerequisite to enrolment in Licence to Perform Rigging basic level. CPCCLDG3001A Licence to perform dogging can be credited towards the nationally recognised qualification Certificate III in Dogging CPC30511.

Non Slewing Crane (CN) Training can be accredited towards the nationally recognised qualification TLI31710 Certificate III in Mobile Crane Operations
