Note a High Risk Work Licence fee of $76 applies above the course cost. This is directly payable to WorkSafe NT.

Course Overview

Intermediate Rigging specifies the outcomes required to perform rigging work at the intermediate level, which includes all the outcomes for rigging work at the basic level, and also includes rigging of cranes, rigging of conveyors, rigging of dredges and excavators, rigging associated with tilt slabs, rigging associated with demolition work, and dual lifts for licensing purposes.

CPCCLDG3001A Licence to perform dogging and CPCCLRG3001A Licence to perform rigging basic level  is a prerequisite to this course

By completing this training and assessment you will be awarded a Statement of Attainment which is required to apply for the High Risk Work Licence class RI.

Payment Options

Full payment for courses up to $1,500 must be made before the commencement of the course unless the Payment Plan option is selected. For courses that cost over $1,500, Site Skills Training will hold an initial deposit of $1,500, with the balance to be paid upon commencement of the course.

Intermediate Rigging Training requires a Unique Student Identifier (USI) , you can still complete the training without a USI, though Site Skills Training is unable to provide you with your completion certificate until you provided us with your USI. To apply for a free USI visit the USI website or contact our facility.

Suitable For

Intermediate Rigging is recommended for those who have previously completed the basic rigger course and intend to work with steel structures or equipment on active worksites; whether from a Sentry or Stand-by position.

Course Delivery

Training and assessment is conducted at the Site Skills Training facility 1 Campion Rd, East Arm, NT 0820. Upon arrangement, training and courses can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.

Prerequisite Information

Although there are no set training prerequisites, NT WorkSafe will only issue a High Risk Work Licence to persons who meet the following criteria:

  • The person successfully completes an approved VET course (for the class of licence being sought) with a Registered Training Organisation
  • The person MUST be a resident of the Northern Territory, or
  • The person MUST provide a letter from their employer that they are a Fly In / Fly Out worker on a Mine Site in the Northern Territory

Failure to meet these criteria will result in the person NOT being issued with a High Risk Work Licence in the Northern Territory.

Licensing Regulation

Applicants are only eligible to apply for a Work Safe NT Licence, once they are 18 years of age and have completed the final assessment. A High Risk Work (HRW) photographic licence is issued for a period of five (5) years starting on the date of issue of the first HRW licence class endorsed on the licence.

RPL

There is no recognition of prior learning for Intermediate Rigging.

Work Opportunities

Persons who complete this course will be able to work on a jobsite as an intermediate rigger which includes the tasks of:

  • movement of plant and equipment;
  • steel erection;
  • all hoists;
  • placement of pre -cast concrete;
  • safety nets and static lines;
  • mast climbers;
  • perimeter safety screens and shutters;
  • cantilevered crane loading platforms;
  • rigging of cranes, conveyors, dredges and excavators;
  • tilt-slabs;
  • demolition and dual lifts

Further Opportunities

Intermediate Rigging is a prerequisite to enrolment in Advanced Rigging. CPCCLRG3002A Licence to perform rigging intermediate level can be credited towards the nationally recognised qualification CPC30711 Certificate III in Rigging.
