If you are the driver of a vehicle or have contributed to the loading and unloading of a vehicle you have a duty of care to others on the road to ensure the load is restrained correctly and safely.
This course aims to give you the necessary skills, knowledge and techniques to secure various types of loads in accordance with the National Transport Commission, Australian Standards and industry best practice standards.
Candidates will learn:
- applicable legislation and responsibility;
- relevant forces and loading;
- load distribution and correct placement;
- restraint systems, their use and limitations incl. WLL deration;
- securing methods;
- hitches and bends;
- dangerous goods;
- oversized loads; and,
- personal and others health and safety.

Full payment for courses up to $1,500 must be made before the commencement of the course. For courses that cost over $1,500, Site Skills Training will hold an initial deposit of $1,500, with the balance to be paid upon commencement of the course.

Load Restraint Training requires a Unique Student Identifier (USI) , you can still complete the training without a USI, though Site Skills Training is unable to provide you with your completion certificate until you provided us with your USI. Those who load and unload trucks, trailers and utes as part of their job role – including truck drivers, couriers, forklift operators and despatch workers
Training and assessment is conducted at the Site Skills Training facility 1 Campion Rd, East Arm, NT 0820. Upon arrangement, training and courses can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.
There are no prerequisites, although it is expected candidates hold a current drivers licence.
