This unit describes the outcomes required to carry out maintenance of hand-held chainsaws. It relates to the maintenance and servicing requirements of chainsaw powerheads and cutting attachments; chain sharpening, clean-up, storage procedures and recording requirements.
General legislative, regulatory and workplace requirements apply to this unit; however there are no specific licensing or certification requirements at the time of publication.

Maintain Chainsaw requires a Unique Student Identifier (USI) , you can still complete the training without a USI, though Site Skills Training is unable to provide you with your completion certificate until you provided us with your USI. To apply for a free USI visit the USI website or contact our facility.
Maintain Chainsaws is designed for persons who use and have a need to maintain chainsaws.
Maintain Chainsaws training and assessment is conducted on-site at the Site Skills Training East-Arm. Upon arrangement, training and courses can be conducted at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable industry training facilities.
Our Darwin facility is at 1 Campion Road, East Arm 0822, NT and training can be delivered on-site/client premises.
There are no prerequisites to this operator's licence, however. Participants will not be able to apply for the HRW Licence until they are 18 years old. It is recommended that a person attains their working at heights qualification prior to undertaking this course.
