This awareness course will give participants an understanding of the risks involved when working and dealing with Asbestos. Asbestos Awareness training educates candidates of the hazards and risks associated with their fibres. Candidates will learn how to identify asbestos containing material (ACM), the appropriate risk control measures including appropriate PPE types and knowledge on management and disposal of ACM.
Asbestos was a common material used in homes built or renovated before 1987, at least 1 in 3 Australian homes contained asbestos including; brick, weatherboard, fibro and clad homes. With asbestos deemed as a hazardous material, it is important that awareness of what asbestos looks like and where it was used is communicated effectively. There is no safe level of exposure to asbestos fibres and if disturbed can release dangerous fine particles of dust containing asbestos fibres.
Asbestos Awareness is aimed at handypersons, home renovators and others who may, in the course of their daily activities, have the potential to be exposed to asbestos.
