Course Overview

Basic Rigging (RB) is designed to give participants the necessary skills and knowledge to undertake Basic Rigging work safely and competently.

On completion, candidates will be able to undertake:

  • steel erection;
  • erect hoists (including mast climbing hoists);
  • place pre-cast concrete;
  • move plant and equipment using a variety of means including skates,
  • chain blocks,
  • tirfors and other means;
  • install safety nets and static lines;
  • install perimeter safety screens and shutters; and,
  • install cantilever crane loading platforms.

Candidates will also gain a sound knowledge of applicable legislation and standards and risk management associated with related to Basic Rigging operations.

By completing this training and assessment you will be awarded the High Risk Licence class RB.

Payment Options

Full payment for courses up to $1,500 must be made before the commencement of the course unless the Payment Plan option is selected. For courses that cost over $1,500, Site Skills Training will hold an initial deposit of $1,500. The balance of fees payable will be charged at a point in the course that is proportionate to the amount of the deposit paid, e.g. a 10-day course costing $3,000, the remaining $1,500 will be charged at the end of day 5 (upon completion of 50% of the course).

Qualification Outcomes

Basic Rigging Training requires a Unique Student Identifier (USI) , you can still complete the training without a USI, though Site Skills Training is unable to provide you with your completion certificate until you provided us with your USI. Suitable For

This course is recommended for those who have dogging industry experience and intend to work with steel structures and equipment within the Resources and Construction industries; whether from a Sentry or Stand-by position

Prerequisite Information

Licence to Perform Dogging Operations

Licensing Regulation

Applicants will only be eligible to apply for a Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) (QLD Students only), Worksafe WA (WA Students only), or Work Safe NT (NT Students only) Licence, once they have completed the final assessment and been deemed competent. You need to be at least 18 years of age before you can be issued with a High Risk Work Licence from the state regulatory body.

Work Opportunities

A rigger who holds a basic rigging licence will able to perform the following duties onsite: movement of plant and equipment, steel erection, particular hoists, placement of pre -cast concrete, safety nets and static lines, mast climbers perimeter safety screens and shutters and cantilevered crane loading platforms. Sites may include civil, resources and mining.

Further Opportunities

Basic Rigging is a prerequisite to enrolment in Intermediate Rigging. CPCCLRG3001A Licence to perform rigging basic can be credited towards the nationally recognised qualification CPC30711 Certificate III in Rigging.
