This course covers the principles and practices of designing, planning and conducting successful casing and cement jobs. It takes participants from initial casing depth and size selection, casing and linear design procedures, casing running practices, and planning and executing primary cementing through remedial cementing and plugging operations. This course is accredited by the International Association of Drilling Contractors through our training partners.
The course provide the knowledge and competency which drilling personnel require to handle well control situations.

This course is conducted at the Perth Site Skills Training facility. Upon arrangement, training and courses can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastucture and industry training facilities.
Full payment for courses up to $1,500 must be made before the commencement of the course unless the Payment Plan option is selected. For courses that cost over $1,500, Site Skills Training will hold an initial deposit of $1,500. The balance of fees payable will be charged at a point in the course that is proportionate to the amount of the deposit paid, e.g. a 10-day course costing $3,000, the remaining $1,500 will be charged at the end of day 5 (upon completion of 50% of the course).

Upon completion of the course, course participants will understand:
- Selection of casing sizes and setting depths to achieve well objectives
- Determination of casing loads for design purposes
- To design casing properties to meet burst, collapse, and tensile strength requirements
- To conduct casing running operations safely and successfully
- Specification of cement slurry properties and volumes to meet well objectives
- Determination of best procedures for attaining successful primary cementing
- To conduct stage jobs, squeeze jobs, and set cement plugs
Upon successful completion of the examination, candidates will obtain a Well Control Certificate at the right level from the International Association of Drilling Contractors.
This course is suitable for Personnel responsible for planning, overseeing, and conducting casing and cementing operations, such as:
- Service personnel
Please note, a $400 fee applies for participants who are required to resit on a different date.
IADC guidelines require this certification to be refreshed every 2 years.
The course is in accordance IADC guidelines on instructional content, length of study for various topics, test construction, class size and simulator/test well exercises.
