Control Loop Tuning is delivered in partnership with Wild Geese International who are an Integrated Training, Operations and Service Provider to the oil and gas industry.

Course Overview

How many of your control loops sit in manual? How many loops have such low gains and long integral times that they are automatic in name only? Can an auto tuner give you the control loop performance you require? This course has been prepared to equip operators and engineers with the answers.

In our experience, the teaching of control theory does not adequately explain the concept of process dynamics and hence many don’t understand how to match the loop tuning with the actual process dynamics. This program aims to provide an understanding of dynamics and tuning through practical exercise.

Payment Options

Full payment for courses up to $1,500 must be made before the commencement of the course unless the Payment Plan option is selected. For courses that cost over $1,500, Site Skills Training will hold an initial deposit of $1,500. The balance of fees payable will be charged at a point in the course that is proportionate to the amount of the deposit paid, e.g. a 10-day course costing $3,000, the remaining $1,500 will be charged at the end of day 5 (upon completion of 50% of the course).

A Payment Plan option is available for this course, please visit the Payment Plans Page for more information.

Course Outcomes

Upon Successful completion of Control Loop Tuning, participants will receive a Statement of Completion.

Delegates will understand each PID controller term and the pros and cons of derivative action. Furthermore they will be able to tune pressure, level, flow and temperature loops. Having thoroughly understood the dynamics of feedback control, each participant will be introduced to the application of dynamics and tuning to cascade and feedforward control.

This thorough understanding will then equip the delegate to appreciate common operating problems, their causes and their solutions.

Finally, delegates will be familiar with multi-stage and multi-train configurations commonly encountered in the real world and their operation and optimisation.

Course Delivery

Control Loop Tuning training and assessment is conducted at the Site Skills Training 72-80 Belgravia St, Belmont, Perth 6104. Upon arrangement, training and courses can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.
