Note a High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) fee applies to the above course. A $95 fee applies to participants who do not hold a current WA issued HRWL. A $74.55 fee applies to participants who already hold a current WA issued HRWL in order to add a new licence class to the existing HRWL. Fees are directly payable to Worksafe WA.

Course Overview

This training package includes the below courses which will be delivered in the below order for prerequisite purposes:

  1. CPCCLDG3001A Licence to perform dogging
  2. CPCCLRG3001A Licence to perform rigging basic level
  3. CPCCLRG3002A Licence to perform rigging intermediate level
  4. CPCCLRG4001A Licence to perform rigging advanced level

Please note, these courses may not run consecutively.

Dogging Training

This course aims to give participants the necessary skills and knowledge to safely and efficiently undertake dogging work in a range of working environments.

On completion, candidates will be able to competently undertake

  • a range of slinging techniques;
  • select and inspect lifting gear and equipment;
  • direct crane operators in the safe movement and placement of loads including out of view of the crane operator.

The course also covers:

  • applicable legislations and standards;
  • risk management procedures relating to lifting operations;
  • crane types,
  • uses and characteristics;
  • crane set up and other elements of crane and dogging operations.

Rigging Basic Training

This course is designed to give participants the necessary skills and knowledge to undertake Basic Rigging work safely and competently. On completion, candidates will be able to undertake steel erection; erect hoists (including mast climbing hoists); place pre-cast concrete; move plant and equipment using a variety of means including skates, chain blocks, tirfors and other means; install safety nets and static lines; install perimeter safety screens and shutters; and, install cantilever crane loading platforms. Candidates will also gain a sound knowledge of applicable legislations and standards and risk management associated with related to Basic Rigging operations.

Rigging Intermediate Training

This unit specifies the outcomes required to perform rigging work at the intermediate level, which includes all the outcomes for rigging work at the basic level, and also includes rigging of cranes, rigging of conveyors, rigging of dredges and excavators, rigging associated with tilt slabs, rigging associated with demolition work, and dual lifts for licensing purposes.

Rigging Advanced Training

This course specifies the outcomes required to perform rigging work at the advanced level and includes the rigging of gin poles, shear legs, flying fox and cable ways, guyed derricks and structures and suspended scaffolds and fabricated hung scaffolds for licensing purposes.

Payment Options

Full payment for courses up to $1,500 must be made before the commencement of the course unless the Payment Plan option is selected. For courses that cost over $1,500, Site Skills Training will hold an initial deposit of $1,500, with the balance to be paid upon commencement of the course.

Course Delivery

Training and assessment is conducted at the Site Skills Training facility 72-80 Belgravia St, Belmont, Perth 6104. Upon arrangement, training and courses can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.

Prerequisite Information

Dogging Training

Participants must be aged 18 years and above in order to complete course and then be eligible to apply for WA High Risk Work Licence.

Rigging Basic Training

Candidates must hold a valid Dogging High Risk Licence or Notice of Assessment

Rigging Intermediate Training

Candidates must hold an valid Australian Dogging & Rigging Basic High Risk Licence or a Rigging Basic Notice of Assessment.

Rigging Advanced Training

Candidates must hold an valid Australian Dogging, Rigging Basic & Rigging Intermediate High Risk Licence or a Rigging Intermediate Notice of Assessment.

Licensing Regulation

A photographic licence is issued to people who are assessed as being competent to hold the High Risk Work licence (HRW licence), subject to identification checks and verifications of age. You must be at least 18 years of age before you can be issued with an HRW licence from Worksafe WA.

Work Opportunities

Advanced riggers have the opportunity to perform all of the duties of a dogger, basic and intermediate rigger as well as: rigging of gin poles and shear legs; flying foxes and cableways; guyed derricks and structures and suspended scaffolds and fabricated hung scaffolds
