Note a High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) fee applies to the above course. A $94.70 fee applies to participants who do not hold or require to add additional licence classes to a current QLD issued HRWL. Fees are directly payable to WorkCover Queensland.

Course Overview

This training package includes both CPCCLDG3001A Licence to Perform Dogging and CPCCLRG3001A Licence to Perform Rigging Basic Level. Dogging Training will be delivered as the first course as it is a prerequisite to Basic Rigging Training. Courses may not run consecutively.

Dogging Training

This course aims to give participants the necessary skills and knowledge to safely and efficiently undertake dogging work in a range of working environments.

On completion, candidates will be able to competently undertake

  • a range of slinging techniques;
  • select and inspect lifting gear and equipment;
  • direct crane operators in the safe movement and placement of loads including out of view of the crane operator.

The course also covers:

  • applicable legislations and standards;
  • risk management procedures relating to lifting operations;
  • crane types,
  • uses and characteristics;
  • crane set up and other elements of crane and dogging operations.

Rigging Basic Training

Basic Rigging (RB) is designed to give participants the necessary skills and knowledge to undertake Basic Rigging work safely and competently.

On completion, candidates will be able to undertake:

  • steel erection;
  • erect hoists (including mast climbing hoists);
  • place pre-cast concrete;
  • move plant and equipment using a variety of means including skates,
  • chain blocks,
  • tirfors and other means;
  • install safety nets and static lines;
  • install perimeter safety screens and shutters; and,
  • install cantilever crane loading platforms.

Payment Options

Full payment for courses up to $1,500 must be made before the commencement of the course unless the Payment Plan option is selected. For courses that cost over $1,500, Site Skills Training will hold an initial deposit of $1,500, with the balance to be paid upon commencement of the course.

Log Book Requirements

In the absence of any evidence of relevant experience, toward informal training a Log book or other training record showing evidence you have undertaken supervised practical training under the direct supervision of a person holding the relevant licence are required in for high risk licence courses.

Log book hours or other training records are completed by the trainee and a qualified site supervisor to ensure skill gaps nominated by the Site Skills Trainer are closed out and verified before the applicant can be proposed for the Mandated Assessments.

Dogging Training and Basic Rigging requires a Unique Student Identifier (USI) , you can still complete the training without a USI, though Site Skills Training is unable to provide you with your completion certificate until you provided us with your USI. Suitable For

Dogging Training is required by, and suitable for, those who intend to work with cranes of all varieties, and those who may require to dog loads with loadshifting equipment, within the Construction & Resource sectors

Basic Rigging is recommended for those who have dogging industry experience and intend to work with steel structures and equipment within the Resources and Construction industries; whether from a Sentry or Stand-by position

Course Delivery

Training and assessment is conducted on-site at the Site Skills Training Landsborough. Upon arrangement, training and courses can be conducted at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable industry training facilities. Our Sunshine Coast facility is at 219 Forestry Road, Landsborough QLD and training can be delivered on-site/client premises.

Prerequisite Information

Dogging Training

As an applicant you may attend the formal training from the age of 15 years however you are only eligible to apply for a WHSQ Licence once you are 18 years of age and have completed the final assessment.

Basic Rigging Training

Candidates must hold a valid Dogging High Risk Licence or Notice of Assessment

Licensing Regulation

Applicants are only eligible to apply for a Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) Licence, once they are 18 years of age, have completed the final assessment and logbook hours.

When applying for a High Risk Work Licence from Work Health and Safety Queensland, applicants must comply with the Work Health and Safety Queensland Evidence of Identity criteria. For further information regarding the Evidence of Identity criteria please click here.

RPL

There is no recognition of prior learning for Dogging Training and Basic Rigging (RB).

Dogging Training

A dogging licence is a prerequisite to enrolment in Licence to Perform Rigging basic level. CPCCLDG3001A Licence to perform dogging can be credited towards the nationally recognised qualification CPC30511 Certificate III in Dogging.

Basic Rigging Training

Basic Rigging is a prerequisite to enrolment in Rigging Intermediate. CPCCLRG3001A Licence to perform rigging basic can be credited towards the nationally recognised qualification CPC30711 Certificate III in Rigging.

Work Opportunities

Trainees who successfully complete this unit of competency and attain a licence are able to work in the civil or resource industries as a dogger where the load is out of site of the crane/plant operator

A rigger who holds a basic rigging licence will able to perform the following duties onsite: movement of plant and equipment, steel erection, particular hoists, placement of pre -cast concrete, safety nets and static lines, mast climbers perimeter safety screens and shutters and cantilevered crane loading platforms. Sites may include civil, resources and mining.
