ABOUT THE COURSE

The traffic management course provides the skills and knowledge required to implement a traffic guidance scheme for roadwork ensuring traffic flow is maintained and the safety of the public and workers is maximized.

This unit requires compliance with the:

  • Code of Practice: “Traffic Management for construction or maintenance work 2008 QLD”
  • Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) – Part 3
  • Transport Operations Road Use Management Act and Regulations 1995
  • Site specific Traffic Guidance Scheme / Traffic Management Plans

The course structure for persons who have previously completed the course and require a ‘refresher course’ is that they must be able to demonstrate knowledge of Traffic Management Implementation procedures and demonstrate 3 years of on-the-job industry experience prior to completing a 4-hour classroom theory ‘refresher’ course.

Site Skills Training Brisbane also delivers RIIWHS302D Implement Traffic Management Plan within a training package with RIIWHS205D Control Traffic with a Stop Slow Bat. To view this training package please click here.

The course structure for new industry entrants is 1 day of classroom theory (8 hours) plus three practical set-ups. Site Skills Training can organise the three practical set-ups for an additional $221, or students can source and organise these themselves. This course must be completed within a maximum period of three months.
